Back in
1802 the French writer François-René de Chateaubriand wrote about the
"Mandarin paradox":
"If
thou couldst by a mere wish kill a fellow-creature in China, and inherit his
fortune in Europe, with the supernatural conviction that the fact would never
be known, wouldst thou consent to form such a wish?"
So let´s imagine that anyone could cure himself of the coronavirus and all it takes is that someone else dies. How many of us would "consent to form such a wish?"
In principle, that is a difficult question but when we hear about women in Australia, a civilized country, fighting over toilet paper I can imagine what they would do concerning the aforementioned question
