Adverse effects on the economy if the wrong ‘types’ of entrepreneurs are being stimulated

 


Still following the post above about the fact that Germans are averse to self-employment see the recent paper below entitled "How do country R&D change the allocation of self-employment across different types?" 

“…encouraging entrepreneurship is often seen by policymakers as a route to combat unemployment and stimulating economic development…However, if the wrong ‘types’ of entrepreneurs are being stimulated, this may lead to adverse effects on the economy...our results imply that higher R&D expenditures increase the quality of a country’s self-employment population. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11187-019-00196-z#Sec18

PS - Still speaking on self-employment the PeoplePerHour platform has seen a 63% rise in freelance registrations since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. This platform claims to have 3 million rated freelancers.
