The Economist__Cut the salaries of executives by 50%
"We had a dreadful 2020. To be fair, nobody could
have reasonably expected the executive team to predict a global pandemic...But
by the same token, if managers aren´t at least responsible during the bad
times, they shouldn´t take full credit for the good times...So, given that my
fellow executives took bonuses in the boom years, we are slashing their salaries by half...Another
cost-saving measure will be the elimination of...management consultants...if my
executive team needs advice on how to do their jobs, that raises the question
of why they were hired in the first place..."https://www.economist.com/business/2020/12/19/what-if-ceos-memos-were-clear-and-honest
Of course, this is not yet the end of management has
was mentioned in the Harvard Business Review : “Think of the countless hours that team leaders,
department heads, and vice presidents devote to supervising the work of others.
Most managers are hardworking; the problem doesn’t lie with them. The
inefficiency stems from a top-heavy management model that is both cumbersome
and costly. A hierarchy of managers
exacts a hefty tax on any organization. This levy comes in several
forms. First, managers add overhead, and as an organization grows, the costs of
management rise in both absolute and relative terms. A small organization may
have one manager and 10 employees; one with 100,000 employees and the same 1:10
span of control will have 11,111 managers. That’s because an additional 1,111
managers will be needed to manage the managers”

Livros indexados na Scopus__O que é que se passa com a Universidade de Lisboa ?
https://pacheco-torgal.blogspot.com/2020/01/livros-indexados-na-scopusproducao.html

The repugnant face hypothesis
Increased Anonymity: With individuals compelled to conceal their faces, there would be a significant increase in anonymity. This could lead to both positive and negative outcomes. On the positive side, it might reduce judgments based on physical appearance and encourage people to focus on personalities and skills. On the negative side, increased anonymity may also facilitate undesirable behaviors such as online harassment and crime.
Shift in Beauty Standards: The distortion of facial appearances could lead to a redefinition of beauty standards. Physical attractiveness may become less prominent in determining attractiveness, fostering a shift towards more personality-based connections.
Emphasis on Emotional Connection: Without the ability to rely on facial cues, individuals might place greater importance on emotional connections, shared interests, and communication skills when forming relationships.
Focus on Common Humanity: With everyone forced to conceal their faces, there could be a reduction in racial profiling and discrimination based on facial features. People might be more inclined to focus on commonalities, fostering a sense of shared humanity.
4 - Psychological and Mental Health:
Impact on Self-Esteem: The constant need to conceal one's face may have psychological impacts on individuals, potentially affecting self-esteem and mental health. Society may need to adapt by promoting body positivity and acceptance of diverse appearances.
Privacy Concerns: The increased emphasis on concealing faces may raise privacy concerns, necessitating the development of legal frameworks to balance individual privacy rights with public safety concerns.
Rise of Virtual Communication: As face-to-face interactions become limited, virtual communication tools and technologies would likely experience a surge in popularity. Remote work and online meetings may become the norm, impacting traditional office settings and work-related travel.
Evolution of Fashion: The fashion industry would likely adapt to the new norm of face concealment, with a surge in demand for creative and expressive accessories such as masks, headwear, and eye-catching clothing. Fashion trends may shift to highlight other aspects of personal style.

Still following the article (post in the link above) by the vice president and provost at the University of Oklahoma entitled "The Coronavirus Is Accelerating History Past the Breaking Point" that was published in Foreign Policy in April of this year (see below a recent, short, but most enlightening warning published in the last edition of The Economist:
"...covid-19 has served as a warning. The 80 billion animals slaughtered for food and fur each year are Petri dishes for the viruses and bacteria that evolve into a lethal human pathogen"
