Still following the final part of the text about some of China´s problems in the post above see a recent article in The Economist about the internal problems of the Chinese economy, which shows that in the last 50 years the contribution of South provinces to GDP rose from around 50% to almost 70% while the contribution of the Noth has declined from around 50% to almost 30% meaning that one of these days the North will contribute with just less than 10% to Chinese GDP. PS - Coincidentally, page 65 of the same edition of The Economist has an interesting article about a research that took place in Germany which concluded that urban mice performed better in problem-solving than rural ones https://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2021/01/23/where-a-rodent-lives-may-determine-how-clever-it-is
