An innovative and radical solution to tackle the crisis in peer reviewing

A few years ago, professors Owen Petchey and Jeremy Fox coined the term "cheats" to highlight a growing issue in academia—scientists who accumulate a large number of co-authored publications without reciprocating with an adequate amount of peer reviewing. This practice, they argue, places an undue burden on other researchers to conduct the essential task of reviewing. In response to the ongoing crisis in peer reviewing, a recent article in Times Higher Education suggests a radical solution: journals should implement a policy of automatically rejecting submissions from authors who have published significantly more papers than they have provided peer reviews for  https://www.timeshighereducation.com/opinion/publishing-more-they-are-reviewing-reject
