The sad history of an early genius scientist

Unfortunately, there´s no surprise in the above ERC grant story. It is just another story to join the "myriad of horror stories of alleged dishonesty in top science". Science is full of sad histories of wannabe genius like for instance the pretender Joachim Boldt  the audacious Diederik Stapel   or more recently Karl Lenhard Rudolph, Leibniz Institute Director who was found guilty of “grossly negligent scientific misconduct.”..having admitted that 13,000 mice were killed unnecessarily...as well as embezzlement…"

It is important to remember that Lex Bouter (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Tony Mayer (Nanyang Technological University), and Nick Steneck (University of Michigan, USA), provided written evidence to the Science and Technology Committee of UK Parliament that addresses Research Integrity issues where one can read the following: "the whole system of academic research is currently permeated by perverse incentives...that need to be removed or at least diminished"
