20.000 tones of diesel oil just leaked in the Artic and the contamination already covers 350 Km2. The spill is due to the collapse of a fuel tank and the culprit is climate change that made permafrost to melt! Still, since it seems the cleanup will take 10 years this is very good to put employed people to work. We must tank corporate psychopaths for this kind gesture. Now what we need is that a few oil tankers can sink soon because that will help to create even more cleaning jobs. Humankind is very good at solving problems. At one moment everybody is unemployed due to Covid-19 and in the next, a lot of jobs are created just out of the blue.
Unfortunately, there are also bad news. An article on The Economist last week that called for "more and better climate-adaptation policies" (pg 51-52) mentioned that there are countries saying that "fossil-fuel companies" must be held accountable for the consequences of typhoons. So if this capitalist newspaper dares to print such terrifying words we can only imagine what the fossil-fuel haters will say next ! For sure this is not a good time to buy stocks of oil companies.
