The image below illustrates a critical shift. In 2020, a milestone was reached, marking the first time the median age exceeded 30. Additionally, the demographic of individuals aged 40 and above is on a steady incline. Notably, the population over 80 is projected to surge by nearly 300%, escalating from 143 million to 426 million by 2050.

This demographic transformation hints at an impending shift towards a more conservative global landscape. The influence of older voters in electing Donald Trump, and subsequently impacting the prospects of younger generations, exemplifies this trend. The repercussions of aging are further evident in the context of Europe, exemplified by the Brexit scenario. While young individuals in the UK expressed a preference to Remain in the EU, the majority of older voters supported the Leave campaign https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-45098550  Considering that the elderly may not witness the long-term consequences of their choices, tehre is a caso for linking votes to the remaining years individuals have on this planet. 

Previous generations have already left an indelible mark of damage on our planet; therefore, it is prudent to steer clear of actions that could exacerbate the challenges faced by future generations.
