The title of this post was taken from an article by a Portuguese historian where he wrote about the recent death of the French historian Samuel Paty. Historians never appear on the pages of newspapers, associated with great inventions, or majestic discoveries nevertheless and bearing in mind that 200 companies alone are responsible for 40% of research worldwide (profitable research, of course) and also that the overwhelming majority of patents are produced by corporate scientists, so what is left for academics working in universities, is unprofitable research but fundamentally something (which also does not occupy corporate scientists) which is the defense of the truth, a defense which is also the defense of civilization itself https://pacheco-torgal.blogspot.com/2020/07/each-scientist-must-stand-up-at-all.html
